Blueberry Chocolate Chip Cookies. Cocoa powder is added to this cookie dough along with dark chocolate chips and dried blueberries. Chocolatey, chewy, and yummy!

My inspiration for this recipe are those delicious dried blueberry candies covered in chocolate. They are so addicting!
My goal was to make these cookies with a strong taste of chocolate. If you are not a big fan of this much chocolate I have included some adjustment ideas for this recipe.
Even if you omit the cocoa powder, or decided to use a different kind of chips, I think you will enjoy this recipe.
So, are you ready to make some cookies?

Are you ready to do some baking? Let's get started!
How to make this recipe
Start with softened butter or margarine. I have been using plant-based butter lately and I love it! Today I am using the almond plant-based butter.
Add the granulated and brown sugar and using a hand mixer (or stand mixer if you prefer) mix the ingredients until creamy.
If you have trouble getting the brown sugar to blend (sometimes it likes to chunk up a bit) use a rubber spatula and press the lumps of brown sugar to break them down. This will help it blend up better.
Next, add the egg and vanilla and mix until creamy and a little fluffy.
To the creamed mixture add the all-purpose flour, the cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
You can continue to mix with the electric mixer or use a wooden spoon or spatula. Stir until all the flour is combined.
It is now time to add the chocolate chips and dried blueberries to the cookie dough. Fold to combine everything together.
Use a cookie scoop or tablespoon and place the dough on a cookie sheet. Leave about 2 inches in between each cookie. In my picture, you can see I put just 9 cookies on the baking sheet. There was room for 12, but I wanted to make sure they didn't run into each other.
Bake the cookies at 375-degrees for 10 to 12 minutes.
Let the cookies cool a minute and then remove them from the cookie sheet to a cooling rack or lay them on a piece of foil or wax paper.
I either use a plastic container with a lid or a sealed plastic bag to store my cookies. They will stay fresh for several days.
Adjustments to this recipe
- You can definitely use semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips if you prefer them over dark chocolate.
- If you eliminate the ¼ cup of cocoa powder, add an extra ¼ cup of flour. The cookie will still be delicious, but it won't be quite so chocolatey.
- If you prefer, for a happy medium, add just 2 tablespoons of the cocoa powder and add an additional 2 tablespoons of the flour.
- Try dried cherries or other dried fruit in place of the blueberries. I bet dried cherries or raspberries would be amazing!

My blueberries seem hard should I rehydrate them before baking? If so, how?
Thanks

Is it Hershey's unsweetened cocoa powder or baking powder? I have never heard of cocoa baking powder! Please reply soon as I am in the middle of making these.
