Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover. Let rise for an hour or so until it is at least double in size.
Punch down the dough and divide into 12 equal pieces. I like to place the dough on a clean work surface and press into a small rectangle, then cut into 12 pieces.
Roll each piece into a ball and place the dough into a greased baking dish. Cover and let the dough rise again, for about 30 to 45 minutes. Preheat the oven.
Brush the dough with the beaten egg if desired. Bake the Honey Wheat Dinner Rolls for 18 - 22 minutes or until golden brown.
Cool the rolls slightly before serving.
Bread Machine Directions
I really like to use my bread machine to make the dough for these Honey Wheat Dinner Rolls. Just add the ingredients to the machine as per the directions for your bread maker. After the dough cycle has run, pick up on the directions to punch down the dough and forming the rolls.
You can also use a stand mixer with a dough hook to make the dough.
