The best part about making a holiday charcuterie board is that you can use your favorite ingredients. Add to or subtract from the suggested ingredients listed below. The kids will have so much fun working with you to create an adorable charcuterie tree.
Recipe Ingredients
- Broccoli Florets
- Crackers - For making the base of the tree. Breadsticks, or pretzel sticks can also be used.
- Assorted Cured Meats - Such as salami, prosciutto, and/or chorizo. If you prefer other deli meats, use them.
- Various Cheeses - Cheddar, brie, and gouda or your favorite cheeses.
- Fresh Fruits - Strawberries, apple slices, green grapes or red grapes.
- Nuts- Almonds or cashews.
- Olives - Black olives or green olives. Or, try adding some pickles!
- Red Bell Pepper and Yellow Bell Pepper
- Fresh Herbs - Sprigs of rosemary, bay leaves, and curly parsley.
Mom Tip
Start with a large rectangle platter. If you do not have one, try using a large cutting board, or even a baking sheet covered with aluminum foil or parchment paper.
Step-by-step directions
Towards the bottom of the platter, begin with a line of broccoli to create a boundary for the bottom of the tree. Under the broccoli, add crackers or breadsticks as the trunk of the tree.
Next, add a row of colorful cheese and some fruit. Strawberries are bright and festive in this platter.
Continue to arrange the ingredients in rows. Insert a row of garnish periodically to be a bed for smaller ingredients like olives and nuts.
Top the tree with a star. You can free style cut this or use a small cookie cutter. The yellow bell pepper or piece of cheddar cheese works well for the star topper.
Over the broccoli and any areas that need extra color, add the bell pepper strips like a garland.
This Christmas Tree Holiday Charcuterie Board only takes about 30 minutes to assemble and it is best served immediately. On the side you can set small bowls with extra ingredients or dipping sauces such as Ranch Dressing.
