3teaspoonsMilkmore or less to get right consistency
Instructions
Prepare the yeast
Slightly warm the milk, then add the sugar and yeast. Stir and let set about 5 minutes until the yeast starts to bubble.
Then add in the eggs and melted butter. Set aside.
Mix the dough
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the 3 cups of flour and salt.
Add the yeast and milk mixture to the flour and mix using the dough hook on your mixer (or use a wooden spoon). Remember, start the mixer on slow soo you don't get flour everywhere! Let the dough mix for a minute or two, scraping down sides as needed.
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let the dough rise until double. About 1 hour.
Meantime
While the dough is rising mix together the cinnamon and sugars for the filling.
Peel and dice peaches. Place them in a small bowl and mix with cornstarch and cinnamon. Set aside until ready to use.
Prepare the cinnamon roll twist
Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
Place the dough on a lightly floured surface and knead, adding more flour as needed, until most of the stickiness is gone and it is easy to handle.
Roll out the dough into a rectangle. About 10 by 14 inches. Spread the softened butter over the dough. Sprinkle with the cinnamon and sugar mixture.
Top with the peaches. Try to avoid adding any excess liquid that may have drained from the peaches.
Roll up the dough, like when making cinnamon rolls. With a sharp knife, split the dough down the center, leaving a couple inches attached at the top.Take one strip of the dough and place over the other, continuing to the end.
After creating the twist of dough, attach end to top to make a circle. Move the peach braid to a baking dish coated with non-stick spray.
Cover the peach twist and let is rise for about 20 to 30 minutes.
Bake the cinnamon peach twist in a 375 degree Fahrenheit oven for about 30 - 40 minutes, until golden brown. Cool slightly.
Glaze
Mix the glaze if using. Drizzle the glaze over the warm cinnamon twist. Serve!
Notes
If you happen to have a jumbo size spatula, it will help a lot to get this soft dough into the baking dish.If your peaches are really juicy this recipe can get a little messy. Just trust the process and proceed. I have always had this turn out great even when I was in doubt.
