This is the best old-fashioned Applesauce Cake Recipe! This delicious dessert is a fall favorite using warm spices such as cinnamon, cloves, and allspice.
In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, cloves, and allspice.
In a large bowl beat the egg. Add the sugars, oil, vanilla, and applesauce. Mix well.
Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix just until blended.
Pour the batter into a 13" x 9" baking dish that has been sprayed with non-stick spray.
Bake the cake in a 350-degree oven for 23-28 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean when inserted into the center of the cake. Let the cake cool.
Frost if desired.
Notes
Optional: Add raisins and/or nuts for added flavor and texture. Cream cheese frosting and plain vanilla frosting go well on this cake. Instead of frosting dust with powdered sugar or eat plain.
