This Honey Garlic Shrimp recipe is our favorite way to prepare this delicious and popular dish. And yes, I cook up 2 pounds of shrimp at a time. And no, that is not for eight people.
Mix together the honey, soy sauce, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes.
Add about ¼ to ⅓ of the marinade to the shrimp in a plastic bag and marinate for at least 30 minutes. Reserve the rest of the marinade.
Heat a large skillet over medium to medium-high heat. Add olive oil and the shrimp. Cook for about 1 minute or so until the shrimp turns pink. Turn shrimp and continue cooking for another minute or two.
Remove shrimp from the pan and set aside. Add the reserved marinade to the pan and cook until the sauce boils down slightly and starts to thicken.
Add the shrimp back to the sauce and continue to cook for 1 – 2 minutes until shrimp is done and sauce is a nice consistency.
Serve the shrimp with rice and topped with the green onion.
Notes
I listed this as 8 servings since the average serving of shrimp is 4 ounces. However, if your family is like mine, 4 ounces never seems like enough when it comes to shrimp. Some in my group can easily eat 2 - 3 servings in one sitting when it comes to shrimp.
